Inquiry Learning

Alexandra Primary School uses MAPPEN; a whole school approach towards providing our students engaging and sequential learning through a true inquiry approach.

Mappen; a true approach to student inquiry

At Alexandra Primary School, we value the concept of students becoming independent learners in preparation for their journey to secondary school and beyond.  To support our moral purpose, we use MAPPEN; a genuine whole school approach towards building important skills across the curriculum.

One of the key features of MAPPEN is the introduction of Habits of Mind.  Over the course of two years, our students will be given the opportunity to examine two Habits of Mind each term in the context of the concept being investigated.  The language becomes habitual and can be applied in all areas of their school and home lives.

Listening with Understanding and Empathy

Social Justice is our focus for Term 3 with the Habits of Mind including:

Thinking Flexibly
Listening with Understanding and Empathy

The Social Justice units encourage consideration of ethical and moral issues that are designed to provoke emotions and develop empathy in students.
