Inside the Classroom
My name is Debbie. I have been teaching at Alexandra Primary School since 2009 and find teaching a rewarding profession!
Each day I have the privilege of going on a journey with my students. I am able to witness the hardships and successes that they face and overcome throughout the year. This journey incorporates academic achievement, as well as emotional and social development. For some students it is about learning to take risks and being willing to try new things, while for others it is about realising that making mistakes is a normal part of learning. Some students seem to progress effortlessly through the year, whilst others experience difficulties along the way. I am able to support my students at whatever place they are at and encourage them to believe in themselves, love learning and strive for success.
These articles are designed to give you a glimpse into my classroom and to help you to better understand the types of things that happen, on a day-today basis.

How To Help Them Learn
The 'numeracy families' pages are an excellent resource to encourage childhood engagement with mathematics. The three pages for early primary (Foundation-2), middle primary (3-4), and upper primary (5-6), can be used by parents to aid them in working to improve their child's mathematical ability. Also, parents of Early primary children can access 'Parents Count Too'; a wonderful resource designed to aid parents in teaching basic numeracy skills to their kids.
